First Step Complete!

This week I have finally completed my JS course! And with this I will be looking into actually starting to create things. There's a few inconveniences in the real world I'm thinking about making small applications for that shouldn't take too much effort, just to try and get a feel for more complex coding. But after those, and along the way as I make those, I'll be detailing how I plan on breaking down some of the mechanics and the like for Twisted Towers as well. And I can't forget about the art portion of the project either! I consider myself to be at least somewhat competent as an artist, and have the freedom to update assets if I'm not happy with them later on. But while I can't forget about that, I can't get head of myself either.

I learned a lot, but to put my new experience to use is going to be the next hurdle. I've started a node.js course on Codecademy because I figure that'll be a pretty crucial component to getting the game actually functioning. It's starting off with a lot of talk about servers though, so I'm not totally sold on if it's exactly what I'm looking for, but we shall see.

So I wanted to start going over details for mechanics this week. I will be detailing my ideas for clothes and related equipment. So the idea I had for clothes is as so: Clothes will have sizes, and stretch limits. Size will affect stats based on how closely they are to the player's current size. If for example, a shirt is the perfect size for the player, it will not have any debuffs it applies. If a shirt is too loose, it could be baggy and snag on something, lowering dexterity. If it's too light, it could limit movement, also lowering dexterity. What if it were to somehow shrink even further? Well, then it would rip, reducing its effectiveness in say, defense. Clothes will also have materials that they are made from which will have their own effects. I also want clothes to interact with each other through the layers system. If you have a lot of layers on, I find that it's easy to have the lower layers to become bunched up and uncomfortable. There will probably also be statuses that clothes and equipment can have like wet, or curses/other magic.

In general I want to see a lot of variety in how clothes exist because it'll allow for some really compelling visuals for the character display. The fade to transparency for some overstretched latex, or a wet shirt that you can see right through.

With all of that said, I believe I have written enough for this dev log. I hope to have something to actually show you in the coming months.
