Stuff

So I've been slowly but surely getting myself psyched into working on it. Got a couple mockups for the character sprites for the smallest and the average conceptualized in a way that's gonna make it easier to be worked on for the final product sprites. I need to remind myself that the transitions between them should in itself appear like, say, breast growth. It should still look similar enough to the adjacent states and all that. Basically, it would make it easier to start on one end and work through it but I didn't feel comfortable posting just the 3 head tall body lol. So I got the 7 head done as well. Working on these made it pretty clear to me that I'm gonna have to add a "thickness" state to make it so not everything looks like a bunch of twigs with fat tits. Proportions are important after all.

So I also added some "part" parts for the breasts, belly, and genitals, with plans to add stuff for tails and the like, but then I remembered this is still just meant to be a tool for when I actually begin drawing everything. On top of that, it reminded me of a failed project from long ago called Carnal Souls that had a really hopeful mockup of what could be changed about the player's appearance. Kinda left a bitter taste in my mouth since that whole thing was a bust after the first year, no matter how promising the art was in the beginning. Yet, even after like, 8 years of cope they had some posts on twitter.  Rest assured, if you know of that project then you have nothing to worry about with this one. It'll fail perfectly fine without external revenue, thank you very much.

Joking aside, I'm not planning on opening a patreon or whatever for money for this game. That's the plan anyway. Truthfully, I'm hoping that as this project grows that I might actually get some other people on the coding so I can focus on the art. It would be for the same reasons I'm working on it, no payment, just a desire to create something that doesn't exist on the same capacity. A work of passion and desire one might say. Honestly, thinking on the other projects that has inspired this one, I can't help but wonder how much content that is still being created for TiTS and CoC II is being made with mass appeal in mind instead of what the devs actually want. CoC II has that really gross change to Berwyn where they just gut him as a companion and give the player the opportunity to turn him into a bimbo. It didn't feel right for that to be a forced decision after, for me personally, he was a must bring. I remember there being something said that there wasn't any writers for gay content on their team at the time which I guess had something to do with it, but doesn't that set a weird precedent for the rest of the content? Is it not written in mind for players of all genders and descriptions? Generally speaking of course.

Anyways! I've been learning JavaScript- I mean GDscript. It's very similar to JS lol. It's good to know that I'll have a better time with it because of that. Tried getting GPT to tell me the best way to approach it and it was just losing its mind. Woo. So I got the studio installed and am learning it, and I'll probably just try to go off what I can without GPT from now on. Too damn frustrating. I'll probably keep most of any updates I give locked behind my coding progress because that'll be the actually playable content, which reminds me. I found something quite interesting while browsing through the documentation! Godot has these things called 2D skeletons which allow for what is basically animations given to a set of images or sprites. You can probably see where I'm going here, but it would make for very simple animations for my whole character sprite window not only kinda easy, but possible in the first place. Nothing crazy in mind, just an idle animation, or like, bouncing for breasts an the like, but I'm excited to see if I can implement that later on since it's more of a polish thing than crucial to the gameplay.

That's all I got for today. Hope the rainbow alien inspires some hope in the project again.
